Hate them, hate them, hate them. I think it's the equivalent of having permanent dirty socks on the floor. Especially gross when other people have used the carpets before you have. Eww. I would rather have concrete floors, too, in a heart beat. I would rather live with the plywood sub-floor than carpets. So unhygenic. Like a big petri-dish on the floor. On that happy note, we did rent an industrial carpet cleaner from Home Depot that made our carpets look like new. They're still carpets, though. 90% of our house is hardwood, except for the bedrooms and I hope that one day I will have a carpet-free house. I don't care if it's a cement floor! Just no more carpets, please! I think in a hundred years, people will look back at wall to wall carpeting and just shake their headsy and ask "why?" I hate carpets, too. All my allergies are due to carpets.
