So, I tagged Joy
Joy tagged Erin (oh and btw, HI STEVE … please refer to this post by MAK and while you are at it, read her other posts … GOOD stuff!)
Erin Tagged me . . . What goes around, comes around.
I decided to give you 7 Random stuff about my trip to Cornerstone Festival two weeks ago.
1. My daughter and I learned that Google Maps rocks … delivering us from our doorstep to the Cornerstone gate … as long as you don’t read ahead. Follow step by step and pay attention to that mileage on each step. Also, read over the return directions before leaving home … they may not be the same as the directions that took you there and that can be a bit confusing. That’s ok . . . we figured it out and were quite pleased with ourselves for doing so. In fact, taking that trip from South Carolina to North Carolina to Tennessee to Kentucky to Indiana to Illinios and back again was quite empowering!
2. My favorite concert was Toby Mac and it had nothing to do with the trip down memory lane when he performed bits, just bits, of songs from my youth … Rapper’s Delight, Freak Out, Good Times, That’s the Way (uh huh, uh huh) I like it, We are Family. After hearing Eric James perform a folk rendition of Dancing Queen, my day was complete.
3. I just want to know what type of eye liner does John Cooper, frontman for Skillet, wear?!?! He was sweating like a pig (why do we say that … I don’t think pigs sweat), face dripping, and that eye liner stayed perfect the entire concert. It had to be the question on the mind of every female in the audience.
4. Shane Claiborne is a very funny, engaging, challenging speaker. His heart for living the life … not just talking the talk … is contagious. He does not use the weapon of guilt to beat up his audience; rather the love of Jesus is the compelling factor.
5. I attended partial workshops with Nick Perrin about NT Wright, Stephen Sizers about Christian Zionism, a full workshop with Aiden Enns about the seduction of cool. There is much more research in my future as I explore these topics more in depth.
6. My favorite seminar was with Marissa Cwik at the CBE tent about modesty. My daughter and I were especially interested in this topic after seeing it mishandled yet AGAIN in our church youth group this year. It must be a relevant topic as I have returned to two online conversation about this very subject. My observations and thoughts are forthcoming.
7. Though David Crowder Band hosted the biggest crowd at Cornerstone, Leeland is the upcoming worship band. I have not been able to raise my hands in praise in months but the hard shell was broken through that Saturday night. The heart of worship radiates through these young men. Though this was their first visit to Cornerstone, I predict they will be on Main Stage within two years. Incredible. (and no, it’s not because I am partial to red heads!)
Since the meme has come full circle, I won’t tag anyone else. We all read each other’s blogs so it can begin to be a bit inbred.
Immersed in the Mystery,

Hi there Cynthia! Welcome back.
Your trip sounded awesome!
Empowering even! wow.
I would LOVE to go on a trip
just me and my oldest daughter (15)…
but I somehow don’t see that happening
any time soon.
Hope you got my PM regarding the pendant.
Also I have something for you.
(no it’s not ultra perm non drip eye liner. sorry)
that makes me think…..
Is it Erin who highlights in pink?
I highlight my hair purple…
and my daughter blue.
We were using “manic panic”…
but it washes out WAY too easy.
Someone told me about “punky colors”
the other day. Sounds MUCH more permanent.
Just wondering what you used?
Ok. Sorry for the “glam” post.
Glad you’re back Cynthia.
The signature IS a nice touch.
