Ok, I need to inspire myself so I am going to list thirteen of favorite raw food sites:
1. My first exposure to a raw food lifestyle was from Jimjee at The Garden Diet. I bought their e-books and read them, toyed with the recipes some but never really made a commitment.
2. Then I came across Victoria Boutenko‘s Ode to the Green Smoothie. I was mesmerized. For the next fifteen months or so, I drank green smoothies on and off. Always feeling better when I was on. My intuition was pushing me closer to the raw food commitment.
3. Sarah’s blog, Happy Foody, was again a push in the raw direction just a few months ago. I took on the 30 day green smoothie challenge and knew that the next step would be a full time commitment. I am going to make this strawberry pie for my birthday in June.
4. Rawkin’ has an incredible raw food journey. Great information, wonderful recipes. She also hosts a warm and supportive online community.
5. I get a lot of great recipes from Gone Raw. The recipes are organized so well and they have a good search engine.
6. Just started watching the videos over at Renegade Health. Kevin Gianna gives recipes, advice and workout information. Five stars!
7. Green Smoothie Girl, Robyn, has a 12 step program for easing toward a raw food lifestyle. She just finished a series about the Recalcitrant Spouse when it comes to diet changes.
8. I ordered the e-books over at Kristen’s Raw. So helpful during this learning curve!
9. Then theres the Sunny Raw Kitchen! For the Love of Chocolate has me drooling!! Carmi also hosts the Raw Freedom Community
10. I ordered my blender, dehydrator and spiralo from The Raw Guru. Quick service!
11. Raw Food Talk is Alissa Cohen’s online community. Lots of information, support and recipes.
12. Good recipes to be found at Adventures of Raw Goddess Healthy. Gorgeous pictures of the food as well.
13. And speaking of pictures, Check out Derek and Sarah!

Last Thursday was my day for emotional break down. It all felt so overwhelming. I wasn’t feeling well at all that day and the thoughts of how I could get into a workable routine with this were just pounding me. It’s such a learning curve. However, I didn’t know how to cook when I got married and I learned how to do that, right? Instinctively, I learned how to make several cooked items make it to the table, hot and ready, at the same time. Now is the time to trust myself and my ability to learn this new way of “uncooking”.
I have a few places I am turning to for support, encouragement and recipes!
I first found Sarah some time last year on her other blog, Walk Slowly, Live Wildly just as her family started their Live Lightly Tour. There’s no telling how I stumbled across her blog but I was intrigued and returned to visit her often. Just in March, I discovered she had a food blog and had just started a 30 day green smoothie challenge. I renewed my efforts to nourish my body with live foods. It was the right place, the right time. As if so many things were lining up for me to make this change for my life now.
Another blog that came along at the right time. In my stumblings around the net recently, I discovered Rawkin. Her blog is inspirational and informative and she even has a discussion forum which offers great support. I don’t know what I would have done with the love and education I have found there.
I found Robyn’s blog through the 30 day green smoothie challenge with Sarah. It’s been especially interesting to read about her family’s raw trip to Disney Land. Check out her website as well for great articles and information. She even has a 12 step program for transitioning your family to better nutritional choices.
I told my friend this week that just as I said I am an artist and that seemed to open the pathway to becoming an artist, I am now saying I am a high raw vegan with the hope that that I will be becoming a high raw vegan. It’s all about the journey and the process. I don’t want to be a finished product but to constantly be in the state of becoming.
Now, I am off to make my green smoothie for the morning . . .
