Good morning Everybody!
This morning I have been fiddling with my sidebar, adding some new content.
WordPress released a Twitter widget this week which I added this morning. I have twitterfeed updating my twitter account with my shared google reader feed, my facebook status, as well as new blogposts here and from my art blog. Honestly, I really don’t understand the what, why and how of twitter but I am trying to figure it all out.
I added a new category to my sidebar called Participating. This will include links to various challenges and memes that I am participating in around the blogosphere. Today, I added In Three Words which simple asks a question to which you answer in just three words. Have to love the simplicity of that!
On my Reading and Watching lists, I am only keeping up with books read and movies watched during 2009. Each year, I’ll start a new list. You may notice that there are quite a few dvds listed already. Each Friday is family movie/pizza night. We only started doing this recently and I have a firm commitment to my children to sit with them and watch the entire movie, without distractions. It has been so much fun! If you have any recommendations for our movie list, let me know.
I divided my reading list as I am not reading just books from 1001 Books you Must Read before you Die. I am taking a break now and then to read something for fun or to read some non-fiction. I just finished reading all four Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. My 17 yod (she’ll be 18 next week … wow!) read them and passed them on. They were light, fun reading however, I was frustrated at how each girl was written as incomplete without a love interest. As they grew, they did individually find interests but still, the main focus seemed to be on resolving their romantic life.
Each chapter began with a quote and I LOVE quotes so that was a bit redeeming. I decided to pick one favorite quote from each book.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants:
“What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Second Summer of the Sisterhood:
He made the world to be a grassy road Before her wandering feet. – W. B. Yeats
Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood
Following the light of the sun, we left the old world. – Christopher Columbus
Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood
Illusions are art, for the feeling person and it is by art that you life, if you do. – Elizabeth Bowen
So, there you are … just a rundown of a few updates. Have a great day!
